If you want a book that helps take your game to the next level then Matthew Hilger's "Internet Texas Hold'em, winning strategies from an internet pro" is for you. This book is well written well organized written in clear and easy to understand terms. This is the book that I keep next to my computer when I am playing online. I have copied some tables from the book to separate pieces of paper and I post those behind the computer as I play.
The book is divided into sections on starting hands, the flop, the turn and the river. Within each section are details on what to do in more specific situations. Such as various starting hands preflop early middle, late position and the blinds. The flop is also divided into categories on what to do if you have high pair, overpair, three of a kind, a set, low pair, trash and other situations.
I can not say enough about this book, it is the best book for hold'em in general and Internet hold'em in particular that I have yet to find.
I suggest that you get a copy and add it to your hold'em library.

John Vorhaus is a great writer and a good poker player. The trouble with this book, or perhaps the good side of this book is that it is not a practical tutorial on odds or starting hands or any of the details of playing poker. John has instead chose to focus on the psyhology of poker. To John Vorhaus the key to good poker playing is to focus on yourself, to get yourself together, to clear your mind to play your best no matter the situation.
I like this book. It is no substitute for a book like Matthew Hilger's excellent "Internet Texas Hold'em" which is filled with tables and formulas, but a good poker library should have both types of books. Playing poker is more than just memorizing tables and calculating pot odds. Playing poker is controlling yourself, we all bet when we are bored, or stay in to the river out of anger. John's books help you focus on "getting your mind right" to play a good game of poker.

This book is a good introduction to online poker and poker in general. It starts with the basics and if you are just starting out it includes overviews of the most common games an introduction to the flow of the game etc.
The book does go a little beyond the basics and covers good starting hands, playable starting hands from various positions. Play on the turn and the river etc. It includes a demo of the Wilson software "Turbo Texas Holdem" that is a decent tool for honing your skills.
